Shipping fish in winter

Are there any added risks in shipping fish in the winter?

Depends on where you're shipping them to. Obviously, freezing is a very real concern. Heat packs can be used to help prevent this, but a lot will depend on the shipping method--overnight vrs 2 day, etc. And, of course--where they are going to matters. If the recipient won't be able to sign for it, or pick it up immediately, packages may end up sitting on their front step for hours--increasing the odds of a problem.

One might almost call it "foolish" to ship 2-3 day shipping in the dead of winter. Heat packs can only do so much, and even these have their drawbacks.

Well don't get me wrong, you can ship in the winter... you just have to plan well, and get top of the line shipping. Also, finding some place reputable and semi-local might also help.

Well, i was considering buying from a place in Texas. Not semi local at all (i'm in Vancouver). It is a reputable place, but i'm in no rush, so it can wait.
