I replaced my Whisper 60 with an Aquaclear 110 on one of my 30g tanks. Overkill - YES! But you should see how clear the water is.

The intake tube is 2 pieces - one that goes down about half way in the tank and another that touches the gravel. I would like to shorten the intake. Don't want to just take the second piece off - I would prefer to have the intake a couple inches above the gravel.

Problem - can I order a shorter tube that fits the larger intake tube size? It doesn't look like it.

It also doesn't look like I can cut it down. The bottom strainer is part of the tube and the top needs the slightly larger end to fit on the upper tube.

Suggestions?

take the tube to the hardware store with you and figure out what the correct size clear vinyl tubing is. Cut a section out and use the vinyl as coupler.

Well, if the two currently attach, cut off the lower end of the first one to the length desired...

Rbishop - good point. Both tubes are the same - with a strainer on the end - and I was thinking I wanted to keep it that way. But you point out the completely obvious thing I am missing - who cares???

I'll just chop that one.
