I've never seen lights this cheap, and I was wondering if anyone here had ever bought anything from aquatraders.com before?

I think it's a pretty good price, but please point out if there is anything wrong with them that you can tell. :help:

this is the link:

I calculated shipping and the total with shipping is $69.34. That's still really good, right?

thanks so much!

I thought those Odyssey units were fire hazards, or at least that's what I've heard from all the reef forums I frequent. They aren't UL listed so they aren't electrically inspected, but again this is not from personal experience, just what I've been told.

Also, the 50/50 bulbs will need to be replaced, they won't do anything for a planted tank. I think you can get an AH Supply 2x55w bright kit for about the same price, and they will have much better reflectors.

i wouldnt risk it.

they are the odyssey lights? i guess i didnt look to hard....

Yeah if you look closely at the expanded picture, it says 'Odyssea' on the front left.

I really wouldn't trust anything from Jebo/Odyssea.

Don't buy it. You get what you pay for in this case, not much. Some have reported the fixtures burning, fans failing in 2 months, ballasts going bad.

Jones - do a search for odyssea lighting, especially on ebay. Youll find that their prices are indeed half or less of normal fixtures, this is usual. And if you search hard, especially on places like reefcentral, etc, you might uncover some interesting threads about them catching on fire. But like everyone else says, they have a bad reputation. Its up to you, if I were low on cash and needed some cheap lights I might be tempted, but if you have the extra money I'd get a nicer fixture. How good is your insurance? lol
