Should I ditch this Sponge Filter?

I have a 30g rubbermaid that I keep feeders in. I currently have a Marineland Biowheel 170 and a Hydo 4 Sponge Filter with a 20g bubbler on it.

I want to remove the sponge filter because rossies get stuck under it, and it's a pain to constantly clean dead rossies.

*** The bio wheel as a prefilter sponge on it, and I have Poly Floss in the cartridge part.

i would think the marineland would be enough as long as it's rated for at least 30 gallons.

The tank is overstocked. I keep about 100 rossies in there. I think I might just get one of those Duetto Marineland internal filters to replace the sponge.

Any other input from breeders or owners of heavy stocked feeder tanks?
I want to upgrade my filtration and allow for less death.

I'm looking at the Eheim internals, and also the Duettos.
I dont' want to spend the money and time on a cannister for the tank, but I guess I can't rule out another HOB if it's really worth it.
