I have a 29gal assorted african cichlid tank and i have a penguin 200 bio wheel.

Will i eventually need to get another 29gal/30gal so that i have 6 cichlids in each tank?

I have 12 total!

Or would i be able to stick with the tank i have?

Thank you for your time!

I look for any excuse to get another tank. But to directly answer your question, you might need to think much bigger than two 29G tanks depending on the fish. What exactly do you have?

3 or 4 of the fish i have i don't know how big they will get but i am assuming its like 7 to 8 inches.

The rest of them only will get to 5.5 inches.

They were all from an assorted tank at petco that i got them from and it said right on the tank 5.5inches.

but 3 or 4 of the fish did not come from that tank the only one i think i know the name is Nimbochromis venustus .

Those wont really do too good in a 29. When you get a new tank go ahead and get a 55 which is IMO the minimum when setting up a malawi community. I have a venustus and he is easily the most aggressive fish in my tank, in that 29 he will get cramped and start tearing everything else up, they also grow pretty fast. I would move your africans to a 55 and make the 29 a community.

I would reccomend just selling the 29 and buying a bigger tank like a 55 or 75 instead of having two 29s.

Just keep the 29 and get a 55g or 75g, you never know when you are going to need an extra tank.

Very true, as you never know when you need an isolation/hospital tank for one of the large fish!!! Just one more tank won't hurt. . . . :)
