If your water is too soft for shrimp and snails, there are rocks or certain types of sand that will make it harder.... and I agree that they would probably be happier in a large group of single species...

BottomFeeder dont give up! Keep trying, and eventually you will succeed. Test water daily for the first week of getting them, and maybe do water changes a bit more often.

still, it seems OP's got very small groups, and they would likely be happier/healthier in larger groups...

Don't give up. I almost stopped keeping briggs when a clutch I tried to raise slowly died off week after week. Yet other snails and briggs I acquire as adults thrive. Take note of what mistakes were made and try again.
