Should I Switch to SALT??

i bought table salt from walmart without iodine..is this ok to use?

thanks for the input, I am running a diatom filter on it as we speak. I am going to let it run for a couple of hours then add the salt when its complete. I hope I can save the other balas that look kinda bad...

When I treated for ich with salt and heat,my tank went cloudy too. After all the salt is in the cloudyness should clear up within a couple, three days.Be sure to have your water temp up to about 86 deg.

The tank will stay cloudy for a little bit, nothing to worry about.

For Ich, like has been said, salt and heat is best.

When I treat for bacterial issues, Ich, or some other things, I add salt at 1/2 cup per 10gal. This is safe despite what many other people will say its not, but I treat my Discus with that, along with most catfish, with no problems.

Its effective, it works great. When I add the salt, I'll add 1/2 cup every 10mins into the current of the tank, and let it dissolve on its own.

As to the effect this may have on plants I don't know, when I have to treat tanks they are bare bottom.

Hmmm,

I tried to follow the ich faq on this site and added 2.5 cups of salt in a 5 gallon bucket then added to my 65 gallon tank. Thats 2 teaspoons for every gallon.

Should I add more or keep it the same?

Salt has been in for about 14 hours and so far so good. Now I noticed my PH is way high, is it ok to add something to bring it back down or does that ruin the process..
