I just bought a spotted raphael catfish (Agamyxis pectinifrons) from petco about an hour ago. (s)he seems curious...going through the rock and such...checking things out. but when it comes across to my mystery snail (which i've had for a few weeks now) it pushes it aside and the snail gets scared. should i just wait and see how it turns out, or should i take it back while i still can? i have a 20g long. 2 flame tetras, 4 neons, and a black mystery snail *aside from the catfish*
 
Snails are like that, most anything moving faster than they are startles them. Unless hes biting chunks out of him I wouldn't sweat it. In time he probably won't bother the snail as much anyway.
 
okay, that being said. if i keep it, is it safe to add anything else to my tank or would it become "overstocked"
 
Take it back.
 
yep, take it back if you want your smaller fish to live. and while you're there, i'd pick up more flame tetras and neons, and perhaps a more suitible bottom dwelling catfish such as a bristlenose pleco. they are great.
 
my sanil gets pushed around a lot. he will go inside for a bit then come out and climb my plants like nothing happend... he has a strange addiction to jumping off my plants but im not to worried about it.
 
Snails are always scared and doing crazy things, which is why I like them so much.

I have 2 kinds of snails:

Bomb snails: The ones who like to climb to the top of things and then drop down. :hang:

AND

Mission snails: The ones who appear to be going as fast as possible along the bottom of the tank for no apparent reason. :dive2:

There are other types of snails as well: Floaty snails, hungry snails, and dead snails.

Don't pay attention to me, I'm in one of those crazy moods.
