what tank stle was he raised in? they have potential to be peacful or aggresion. my mom had a 9" one eyed pleco that would kill everything red!! NOw she has one about the same size and he is well at home
I have a common pleco, in my tank, and i think that he(she I really dotn knw) is very pretty. yeah they do poop alot... mine does actually come out during the day, and will even eat floating pellets off the top of the water. he does hide but actually doesn't mid being petted when i am cleaning the tank. i think you should get the pleco
Mine is out all the time. He is very active and does not mind the light or people looking in on him. And he is a pig, he floats on his back at feeding time and skims the top of the water eating the flakes and pellets.
Plecos are a huge amount of work, but I've never seen fish with such stunning personality before. My huge common pleco's all show distinct personality, and prefrences far more than my specialty plecs do. I've taught two of them to take food from my hand, one of them loves having his nose and lips rubbed, and I've trained him to roll over on his back and let me pet his belly. You show me another type of fish you can do this with and I'll be mighty impressed. The down side is, I vaccume pleco dung twice a day, and tripple my filtration to keep my water polished. But ya know what? I see guys walking their dogs in the rain. Pets are work.. and fish are no exception. For me.. I find my pleco's well worth the labor...
