I just got home from work and checked on my betta in the 10g which is cycling. Yesterday his tail fin started looking torn, this is the second time. And today it's also appears torn on his bottom fin :( Nitrites started showing up yesterday, so I'm thinking that may be what it is... I also have 3 ADF's in the tank too. Question is should I move him to a Betta bowl and give him a chance to heal while the tank is cycling. Maybe move the ADF's to my 2.5g... I have used BettaFix before and it seemed to work well, but I don't want to add that in with the frogs.... Maybe salt?

They're probably torn from stress...
Isolate him if possible and monitor it for a day.
If it gets worse, then consider medicating..

What were the exact levels in the water.

Also, ADFs do nip fins but its not really that bad. They see motion, give it a poke and usually move on when it doesn't taste right or fit in their mouths. Ive never seen damage as a result, but if your betta is weakened for some reason than that could be the cause..

He's swimming around just fine. As of last night levels were:
ph 7
Ammonia .25 - .50
Nitrite <.25
Nitrate 0

Then I did back to back water changes to get everything to 0.

The only thing I have to isolate him in is a small betta bowl. Is that ok?

As Ems said, I think he is definitely stressed. Maybe because of the level fluctuations... I don't know. I really don't think the ADFs are the cause if they are well fed, they'd have to nip a whole lot to cause some ripped fins. If your betta is stressed because of the water parameters, maybe putting him in a bowl with very routine water changes until your tank evens out would be good for him.

Well the water conditions in the bowl are going to fluctuate as well.
Personally, I'd leave him in the 10, keep doing water changes and watch him in there.
If you do decide to medicate, then isolate him.

I agree with this. Let this tank cycle all the way through and then add your Betta back in. He should do well in this tank. Plus give him plenty of places to hide. Bettas love to hide under Plants, driftwood and slate that is on its side. Also again, keep an eye on the tank and do weekly water changes.

Where will she keep the betta until the tank is cycled? In an uncycled bowl??
