Should I try painting my aquarium background?

I've had success using Krylon fusion and that is what was recommended to me by people here. Scraping it off a larger tank would be a major PITA if you decided against it in the future but it's certainly not permanent.

IMO it looks a lot better than any stick-on background I have used.

One side of my 125 gallon tank was facing a door way and every time someone came in the door it would frighten my fish. So I put window film on one end and it works great. And, it was easy to put on. Been about 3 weeks and still looks very good. You can see in (a little when the fish tank lights are on) and they can not see out at all.

I have had the aquarium for over 7 months and I painted the back a dark blue. Did not want to paint in the house, so thought of using the window film. I got mine at Lowe's, but you can find it at Home Depot also. I used Privacy Black Gila Window Film. Costs less than $16.00. All different colors and types to try. http://www.gilafilms.com/Residential/window-film-Privacy-black.htm

I have painted a lot of tanks. I have used spray paint, brushes, and rollers. I have use acrylic, laytex, oil, and enamel paint.

Rolling is the easiest. And since the tank is already on the stand, probably your best bet.

Buy some sponge rollers, the fuzzy kind will get the fuzzies stuck on the tank.It doesn't hurt, but sponges work better IMO.

Tape the sides of the tank, the top and bottom trim, and go to town. Turn the tank light on so you know when you have enough coats, and PRESTO! A pefect background that will never have water get between it and the tank.

Here is a pic of my painted 180 gallon.

I know this is an old thread but.... that 180 looks really good! What type/brand of paint did you use on it?
