well there go my hopes and dreams.... just talked to my dad and he was telling me that when the neighbor was trying to start it the other day he was having issues and from the sound of it, it wasn't too good of a rebuild job on the car. maybe I'll find something else, but now that I've seen what they look like, I like them. maybe something new for me to look out for

If you're looking for something reliable this isn't something I'd look at anyway. More like a project car that you don't mind dumping money into.

Yea I've always liked AMC AMX's because you dont see them too much so I'm surprised I never knew about these.

I knew about them, but I have not seen one in a LONG time, since I was a kid. Odd for something that was a very good selling car at one time apparently, but not extremely collectible to most people I guess. Plus I'm from Ohio so perhaps many of the ones sold there rusted and went to the junk yard.

As far as AMC AMX's, some guy around here has an oddball AMC Spirit AMX (not as ugly as the normal spirit). It's gutted (which is fine, I wanted to replace everything) but not much rust (well..for an AMC : ).
Of course he's just gonna let it sit there and rot. He has a whole yard full of AMCs and as far as I know won't sell any and won't do anything with 'em. It's a shame. Lots of oddball AMCs sitting in his yard.

It would end up being a every now and then kind of car, do some work at my parents garage on it when needed. and keep it covered and parked most of the time, but like I thought in the beginning, thats not gonna happen till I'm 40 probably lol. I should probably go with an Envoy or Trailblazer 4x4 like I was thinking

If you like it, have a mechanic go and check it out for you. The last few mornings have been cold, it could be something simple that needs fixing up and might help you haggle the price down some.

You already said it is not going to be your daily driver, so unless you are willing to spend a lot of money on a 99% reliable muscle car they are all going to require some amount of work. Why not at least check this one out, and if nothing else get a bit of experience at looking one over.

Very good points. I think I'm going to wait a little though, I was looking for something four wheel drive originally when I stumbled across that. It'd be nice but not really practical right now. I guess I am growing up a little lol

Probably a good choice on waiting to find something else. The father of a friend of mine just bought a Mav Grabber that was in need of a total resto, he's running into the problem of finding good quality parts, especially interior, apparently no one makes good quality replacement for them and NOS are hard to find.

My suggestion, save your pennies and buy a Mopar, the only muscle cars worth the money you pay for them.

I did find a '74 Plymouth Roadrunner in Plum Crazy, love that color, for $11880 but thats more than I can spend on something thats not a 4x4
