Should livebearers become a problem in my planted tank?

I moved my platies to my 20 gallon planted the other day, and I think one of the two females is pregnant.

Should I worry about having livebearers in my tank if I don't really want to raise the fry? Should I expect to really have issues with lots of fry?

Thanks,
-Russ

Depends on how planted your tank is. If you can see all your fish from some angle most of the time I would say it would be managable. A friend of mine has more platies than he knows what to do with, but he has a jungle in his tanks. The platies themselves will help control the population some if they can catch the babies. If you have good cover like thick java moss you will have more and more platies.

Will a betta eat fry? He's in the qt right now because I recently got him, but will be added sunday if all is well.

I know platy fry can be quick.

A betta would love fry. I do know when I had my first betta and guppy fry, if he didn't catch them as soon as I'd drop one in, he was pretty inept at catching them afterwards. A couple actually grew up in the tank with him and he didn't bother them anymore (they ended up being female guppies). So they just lived there with him. Maybe some bettas are quick enough, I don't know.

a short tail betta would be fast enough to take in all the babies
