Show Us Your Tankbusters!

L.jpg

This is Leonardo de Fishio, one of our two pacus. Our pacu have outgrown their 300 gallon tank. We are now in year 3 of a big tank upgrade. We have a major DIY fishroom build going on. Tomorrow, our tank will be moved into its final position so that the fish viewing room can be taped, mudded, sanded, painted.

New Zealand Longfin eel (Anguilla dieffenbachii)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Zealand_longfin_eel

Big females can grow to 4-5ft and up to 50lb before they migrate out to sea to breed. We are about 1,000ft above sea level here, and above a big hydro dam. They move the eels over the dam on the back of a truck.

The stream those ones are in is only about 3ft wide and 6" deep, but thats the sort of place they live.

Sweet! Did you see the river monsters episode for those?

Pics ASAP, but I've got 3 3-inch comet goldies I'll put up. Ive also got a 3 inch bulldog pleco, but he's no monster. Well, he is in personality, but not size. My Che EPROMs acurostre (butchered the name) would be 4 inches by now, if I hadn't accidentally killed him... :(

he's not much of a monster yet but just watch he'll get to the 8 inches someday. maybe a couple inches more :)
