just make sure the media is moist(wet) and fresh..bacteria cannot live if the medai dries and it can consume the food supply within 24 hrs resulting in dead bacteria.

i disagree with all this...you need to be certain that the bacteria has survived the transfer...the above statements assume this.....well you know what people say about ***_u_me....
put the media in but add ammonia to 2pmm, re-test 24 hours later and check ammonia and nitrites are zero before adding...to be really safe i would continue this for 3 days to allow for a sudden nitirite spike....if you get past the 3 days then you really are ready to go
