I think it should be US who figure it out, then we'll MAKE a huge amount of money on it, just like msjinkzd! Everyone knows she lives in a ginormous mansion on a hill overlooking the city, with a dozen ponds out back and a groundskeeper who comes in and cleans her aquariums every day, right? All from the unbelievable profits of snails and shrimp!
On a slightly more serious note, how would we go about coming up with a whole new color of shrimp? I know about selective breeding to improve on an existing color, but how would we 'induce' a mutation, if mixing reds and blues won't cut it?

Yes, a few Indo Cherax species can display vivid purples in areas of their body, Cherax sp. Hoa Creek usually being the main example. But I've rarely seen anyone get the purples that you see in the photos of this species, it's usually a muted/dusty color, meh. I had a few... they're nice looking crays.

the purple zebras were around for a while but I haven't seen them in a while. They were found to not breed in freshwater so many people are no longer interested in them and I haven't seen anyone selling them lately. They looked similar to a indian zebra shrimp with the vertical stripes which were a purple color with the body being a very light purple color.
