I don't think we have PetCo here, I know there's a Petsmart, but I don't buy things from there.. I got it from Pisces Pet Emporium, which is a locally owned pet store in Calgary, Alberta.
I'm going to take it back, because it's a **** and has killed a bit under a quarter of my stock. As much as I'd like to have it, it is not compatible with my fish and I do not have the time to run another tank, considering the fact that it takes me a minimum of 4 hours to do weekly water changes on the ones I have. Also, it just sliced off most of one the pregnant feeder guppies tail. Actually I thought the prawn/shrimp was dead until just now, turns out he was hiding out in the anubias. I'm also pretty sure it killed the bee and flower shrimp I just bought since it's the only one left standing out of the group. I think I should get a refund for this, not including that shrimp/prawn that was $55 lost in shrimp which kind of pisses me off. Considering the fact I didn't even ask for the stupid thing.
"If you leave it in the 10 gallon, it will stay small due to living constraints."
Is it different for inverts? Because I know people say that a lot with fish, and I know, for a fact that it's incorrect. I always figured, that like fish providing, the diet and water quality requirements are met they will usually grow to their expected size. Kind of like the pleco I adopted, his tail is kind of zig-zaged and he's over all shaped funny (he was kept in a 5 gallon). The only thing I know that can stunt growth is very little feeding and long-term exposure to bad water quality. .
