shrimp of different species don't interbreed, color variations of the same species can interbreed. here is a chart that was posted on another thread

the chart says compatability, meaning if they can be in the same tank (as marked on the chart) they cannot interbreed. Taht is why cherry, yellow, blue pearl and snowball (same species, different color variations) are not recommended to be kept in the same tank. Crystals and cherries can be housed together because they cannot interbreed. I would imagine black and crystal reds could, although I am not familiar with crystal black shrimp.
think of it has platies or guppies. think of all the colors of platies are out there. only down side when they breed they come out funky.

As to get anymore shrimp questions out of the way... but anyway you can get a albino chery red shrimp or a all white one, like in a color strain? Seeing this is how a crystal red shrimp came to be from a bee shrimp?

Hey, not sure exactly what you're asking, but they do have white shrimp, called snowball shrimp. They can interbreed with cherry shrimp, and thus shouldn't be kept together. They also come in yellow, and pale blue varieties.
