Hey Guys,

Well I setting up a softy reef 55 and was woundering about what shrimp I could get. The tank would NOT be "agressive tank" so im hoping the shrimp will not get eaten. The shrimp I like right now are the coral banded shrimp and the dancing shrimp(think thats the name or is it camel?). Could i put them in the same tank or is one better than the other or should i go for something else?

thanks for your imput!!
JB

camel and dancing shrimp are two different things from all the names i have seen. dancing shrimp refer to "sexy shrimp" which are perfectly fine for a reef. camel shrimp are not considered reef safe and will likely eat some of your corals, especialy yoru polyps.
a coral banded shrimp will be fine by itself, but they can get agressive towards fish and will eat your other shrimp.

CBS + other shrimp= missing shrimp and fat CBS

pretty much. haha
i had a CBS in my reef before i moved him to my fowlr. i tried a pepermint shrimp in there to see what would happen. sometimes when i woudl look int he tank at night at the pep i would see these huge long antennae come from up behind a ledge and then two arms and the CBS would stab at him. then one time i noticed i hadnt seen the pep in about a week or so....

My favorite are Skunk Cleaner Shrimp. They are quite pretty and active. Not only are they out and about most of the time, everyone loves the fact that they crawl up my arm when ever I put it in the tank.

Non reefing company gets a kick out of it.

thanks again!

Take some pics when you get them please!!
