Should they be QT'ed like you would a fish, do they carry/spread fishy diseases? Also, would clown loaches eat them? Lets assume I mean ghost shrimp if it matters, I think that is what my LFS normally has
I'm not so sure on the QT part of it, Holly...but I don't see a ghost shrimp getting the upper hand (or claw, as it were) in a territorial dispute with a clown loach.
What part of MI are you from? I miss that place terribly. :sob:
The only thing I would worry about is the water they came in...at every LFS I've seen, no matter how good, there's always a small dead fish or two as food in those tanks...if you scoop them out by hand, they should be OK, and so will your fish.
But i dout the clownloaches will mess with the shrimps since the shrimps are too fast for them. The clownloaches maby will just bump into them once in a while when there poking around the gravel and happen to come across a shrimp.
I have clown loaches in with Amano and with an armoured shrimp - and they really don't pay any attention to them at all. Not that you could guarantee that if they got hungry mind you.. but the most I've ever seen is the Amano's trying to pinch an algae wafer off one of the clowns and getting a bit bumped (and clicked at!)
and I searched the forums too . Thanks nursie. I guess I can see how it goes, the shrimp aren't exactly expensive, and I guess the clowns would get a good snack if they do decide to go for it, I would just feel bad
Anyone know if they should be QT'ed for disease???
I put ghost shrimp in with my clown loaches. I've never seen them get eaten, but they do disappear over time. I think when they molt they will get eaten.
