shrimp rcs question

sorry to bring up an old thread, but i'm also wondering if anyone is using CO2 with their RCS?? i just bought another Nutrafin CO2 system (basically just a DIY CO2) and i was curious if anyone else is doing it? my concern with the DIY style is there's really no way to shut it off at night.. no solenoid on the low tech stuff.. how does everyone work around that? just unhook the hose? seems kinda ridiculous doesn't it? i'm lost.
I don't think DYI CO2 can really generate enough to change the PH so much that it threatens the shrimp... but I've never used DIY CO2 (and one could use multiple units), so I couldn't say for sure. I keep some shrimp (malawa and ghost) in my 29g that has pressurized CO2 and a PH controllerv(set to 7.2) without issue.
I am tempted to try some DIY on my 20L...
