do FW shrimp "swim" cuz ive never seen it, while at the ocean i noticed that the saltwater shrimp that are used for bait swim and almost seem to "fly" through the water. do fw shrimp exhibit this behavior? cuz ive never seen it.

My RCS "swim". I really wouldn't call it swimming more like scooting. They usually scoot backwards (sometimes forwards) around tank. Sometimes they just let the current do most of the work for them. They usually just do it in short little bursts.

No they just sit still all day and do nothing, OF COURSE THEY SWIM :)
well idk. cuz ive never had them, i got some once and they got massacred overnight. i saw them crawl on the bottom but never swim.

Yes, they swim around with their 'swimming' legs (the ones females use to hold eggs), as well as walking on hard surfaces. They also have a special escape reaction which allows them to thrust suddenly backwards through the water.

My shrimp swim all the time. They look like little submarines with legs.

Here is a video of my baby pleco and the shrimp are swimming all over. They are such camera hogs. (don't bother with the audio, I didn't realize the radio was so loud)

They fly!
When I watch my shrimp tank and see them flying around it always reminds me of the "Wizzard of Oz" movie scene with the bad witch and the flying monkeys.

"Tonight we fly my pretties! Tonight we fly!!"

(Don't remember the quote exactly - too many years since seeing the movie I guess!! Some movie buff can fix that for me.....)
