Shrimp... to count or not to count?

Hey, considering shrimp are sort of cleaning crew, does anyone know if you are supposed to include them in your fish inch to gallon ratio?

:help2:

When you have a tank strictly for breeding the shrimp, they stop growing in population at about 25 for a 10 gallon tank. I'd say each 2-3 need about a gallon to themselves when in a tank (larger than a 2 gallon). You can probably get away with more. I am guessing, 2-3 shrimp would take up almost a gallon of fish space as well.

Ok, that sounds good. I was thinking of getting three actually so I'll just give them one gallon to themselves. I have an 8 gallon tank, so it's pretty small. If I added three at one time will it throw off the balance to the point where I need to let it level out again? Or do you think I could add three shrimp and one or two small (less than 1") fish?

You will want more than just 3. If you get 3 you'll never see them. I would start with 10 shrimp. IS there anything else in the tank? Most fish will eat baby shrimp but fish with smaller mouths will not bother the adults.

Well the thing with my tank is that it's a hex shape. Tall. So the ground space is relitively small for the amount of gallons. I do have allot of hiding spaces though. lots of stuff for shrimp to climb.

I only have a betta in there right now, the tank is just over two weeks old so I have to wait yet. But I wanted to get 2 bumblebee gobies and 2 sunset platties. Then I was thinking of some shrimp too, maybe a frog? I don't want to overload it, but I'm picking up a water testing kit today so I will keep an eye on the specs.

here is a pic of my tank.
