Shrimp Waste

Is the tank recently setup or the driftwood is newly put it?

The tank is about 4 years old, the driftwood has been in there a couple of months.

It's real driftwood, and the "slime" is also on the rock and in the moss and the pre-filter.

Hmmm... weird.

Take it out if you can, I don't think it's anything to worry about.

Try to see if you can find out where it's coming from first, then we'll be able to give you a bit more help.

It's either the BN, driftwood, or some pesky kids.

I thought it was the BN, but he hasn't been out all day, and it's coming back. Here's a picture of something that is similar in color to the strings:

I seen worse cases before, it looked like spider webs EVERYWHERE in the tank. I cannot remember the thread, or if it was on this site, but it was very hard to track down the website by just googling random words. It occurred in FW and SW I believe, and vaguely remember if something accidentally dropped into the aquarium.

Definitely interested in the cause.

Supposedlycaused by vermitid snails, I googled around and found on a forum. It is a SW water, I believe.. But your is FW.. maybe its a snail thing "This is caused by tube snails called vermetid snails. They are common in and on live rocks. The webbing you are describing is there modified antennae which capture food particles in the water and are pulled back to the snail so it can feed".

Hmm, similar, but mine seem to have poo in them. Plus they only showed up last night.
