It is not that the other fish bother them, I would not use incompatible critters together; it is more that I cannot be sure that they will get enough food. None of the Singapore shrimp in mixed tanks has had a long life for me (the new Cameroon shimp is my first of those, so I can't tell much about it yet). The ones housed as species live for several years. Both have very similar water conditions, both get the same foods, both have adequate refuges for post-molt security. In a mixed tank I'm lucky to get a year and half from them, in species I get better than twice that. I can't see what else it could be, so I house them only on their own these days.
