Shrimps with discus?

I am planning on getting discus, (5 adults in a 90 gallon with a few neons) and i was wondering if shrimp would be a good cleanup crew, or would snails be a better choice? Thanks

I reported the double post for you...

FW shrimp/snails will not "clean up" the tank unless you have a lot of algae or decaying plant matter. But even with algae there are better ways to deal with it.

In a tank that size I would think you would have a hard time spotting any shrimp especially if you plant it heavily. I also believe that discus are good at picking off shrimp so that may be a problem.

they will go after them as they see them. best to have another tank to raise them in then move them over.

You could buy ghost shrimp. They are usually dirt cheap, they eat your uneaten foods, and if your discus want a shrimp cocktail, you could easily replace them.

How densely are you planning on planting the tank?

not very densely, it will be hard to do the water changes that discus require

ok, how about a catfish like a rapael then?

I would not recommend anything except a Python and a Mag Float as a clean up crew.
