I just purchased a piece of live rock with a red mushroom on it. It seems to be pretty opened up in my tank, and doing alright (bought it on Saturday). I havent been able to find a solid answer to the feeding question on red mushrooms. Should I be target feeding it or should I just let it feed itself through floating particles/food in the tank and photosynthesis? I also haven't noticed it catching any of the mysis/brine I feed the fish, probably because its in an area of lower water flow.

Here's a pic as of yesterday btw:

Mushrooms are photosynthetic so you will not need to feed it, just make sure you have good lighting. It looks like you have quite a lot of Aiptaisa in there. You may want to think about killing that before it takes over the tank. It is a type of pest anemone and it stings fish and other corals. There are a few methods, you can use a syringe to squirt them with hot water. Some people use lemon juice, there are also some commercial products available.

Every now and then I zap a few with some lemon juice, but I just cant seem to eradicate them all. I've almost given up. How about sucking them out with a siphon with a small opening? Will they overtake the mushroom? My lighting is T5 96W total 10k and 460nm, which I believe should be sufficient for these guys. The tank is 45g, so thats 2.13 W/gal.
