Shubunkin growth rate?

Anyway, eventually my pond will be finished and fish-ready, but for now the two goldies are temporarily in the 40 gal breeder. At their size I'm not too worried about issues, and they'll be in a 1700 gallon pond by the end of spring, so hopefully all will be well. I'll be getting more shubunkins, a few more commons/comets, and a bunch of rosy reds once the pond is ready. So I'm sure I'll see some growth differences then, but I had been under the impression that goldies grew relatively quickly so I was expecting to see the shubunkin hit 4-6" before I actually introduced it to the pond, but it was about 2" when I got it and can't be more than 2.5" now. If that.

But if that is normal, I'll leave well-enough alone.

I wouldnt sweat it, ull look into the pond one day and go they are huge!

Do you have a pond to move the koi to when it gets too big? Those things get 3 feet long! Very pretty pic.

A bigger tank is only a saw and drill away when they need it. I have to move by June 1st, guy is selling the house, so perhaps Ill build a indoor corner pond for them.

Sounds like a plan. I know I read somewhere that koi need about 1000 gallons each. I had debated putting one or two in my pond, but just don't feel that the size is going to work for me, plus I want a lot of plants, and I know they're plant destroying machines. I still think they're beautiful fish, but just not quite right for my setup.
