I have 2 serpaes in a 29 gallon and they stay in the back near the bottom all day. They only eat flakes that drop down to them. Is this normal? What should i be feeding them?
Serpaes do better in schools. I actually created a combination school of 3 serpae and 5 bleeding hearts. And the original 4 fish seem to be MUCH happier now. Mine tend to feed in mid or bottom tank usually, so I throw in sinking pellets or wafers for them. But with the larger group now they will all take turns darting to the surface quickly for the flakes.
Good luck,
Mary.
Poor little fish, feeling like two guys stranded in the jungle, standing back to back, afraid to go to sleep, trying to see what critter is going to come up and eat them. Safety in numbers! Critters that are often eaten like to be in large crowds of things that look like them, think of zebras.
