Shy Upside-down Catfish

I suppose this is probably futile but...

Does anyone have any suggestiongs for luring my 2 upside-down catfish out from behind their plant at the back of the tank. They squeeze into a little space together and I rarely see them. I assume that they come out at night. They are such cool looking little guys that I wish I could observe them more often.

My cories also huddle under a "bush" all day, but at least they are more visible.

Hi,

You can't do much about Upside-Downers hiding (except getting rid of their hiding places, but that will strees them out so its not a good idea), its just a natural behavior. I have three and there always by my heater, so I get to see them which is really cool.

Maybe if you get one or two more they will come into the open a little more because they'll feel more secure in larger nunbers.

They're nocturnal, so there's not much you can do to get them out during the day. One of my two loves to hang out in a PVC pipe with one of my violet gobis, and the other hides in a rock overhang during the day.

Thanks! I am glad that they are exhibiting normal behavior, as maybe it is a sign that they are healthy. They have certainly doubled in size since I first got them about 6 months ago.

u wake up at night then u should be able to see the catfishes.i saw all my other fishes resting at night all my neons change their night mode colours except the cory which morning not very active.They at night run around the tank like playing something with each other.

i have seen this floating log decoration that floats at the surface they might likrt to hide under it waiting for prey
or maybe floating plants duck weed or something

My 8" synodontis eupterus (featherfin) is the boss of his tank against some 5" Venustus cichlids but used to hide almost all day. I put a few plastic plants in there while I'm waiting on my fresh ones to arrive & found that he's out from his log almost constantly.

I saw him trying to bit one of the plants in half the other day but usually
he just likes to swim around them while chases the Venustus a bit more.
