Sick Betta HELP!!!

This morning I noticed my betta was having trouble swimming! I fed him and he tried to get to the food but he could barely swim to the top of the water! He tried a few times and then just sat at the bottom. It looks like his tail might be damaged. He's about 3 years old. Does anyone have any clues or suggestions??? (He was FINE yesterday!) Maybe he's just old! THANKS!!!

What do you mean exactly?


Can the fish swim but strugles due to lack of fins or does it swim but wobble about?

If its the first and its just started it could be due to other fish nipping its fins, or it could be fin rot.

if its the 2nd then it could be swimbladder disease.

3 is a pretty old Betta...It could be that his time has come...Give him a 100% water change and keep him warm...75-82 or so...

Oh well, my poor little betta kicked it the very night I posted this message. Thanks for all your input anyway. It was his time and we had a burial at sea.

Yeah, living things have this very strange and consistent habit of dying at some point.

My sentimentality always gets the better of me when I watch an older movie and I realize the really cute puppies are all dead and gone now. :sad:
