hi my cichlid is breathing buy laying at the bottom and not eating? please help me anyone.

in order to help, we're going to need a lot more information. would you call up your doctor and say, "hey doc, i'm not feeling well, what should i do?"

how many and what kind of fish are in it.
what are your ammonia, nitrite and nitrate readings.
how often do you change the water and how much do you change.

1 blood parrot soon to be going to a new alot bigger home

30 percent once a week
eveytime with water change
cichlid flakes and pellets

which cichlid is sick ... the parrot or one of the daffodils? the first problem i see is that you're keeping African cichlids from lake Tanganyika with danios and a hybrid central american cichlid. danios are too 'busy' for Neolamprologus pulcher .. when you move the parrot, i'd move the danios with him. pulcher is best maintained in water that is hard and alkaline: pH 8.5-9.4, gH 240-320 ppm kH 180-240 ppm. Neolamprologus pulcher does best on a diet high in protein ... which flakes and pellets are you using?

nevermind he is fealing alot better i think it was becasue my parents didnt put the hallwaylight on so the fish coudlnt see in total darkness.................right?
thanks for all the help but the water test ill ave to get since i dont have my own kit. the pet store does it for me , i go there 2 times a week , so thanks everyone.

ill get a kit when i get my allowance this friday though someone showed me a link to get the 27.99 test kit for 14 bucks or so.
