Hi everyone,

Please help me figure out what is wrong with my poor peppered cory! He keeps turning upside down and floating towards the surface, then he seems to realize what he's doing and frantically swimming back down to the bottom. He's been doing this for about two days now.

I tested the levels and everything was fine, but nitrates were a little high, so I changed 50% of the water the night before last. All the other fish seem fine. Nothing has changed recently in the tank, except I added some ghost shrimp. Maybe he ate a bad shrimp? Is there anything I can do for my poor fish? I really don't want him to die.

Thanks,
jen

Just incase you dont know, if you are worried about your fish suffering, flushing him will cause him to suffer even worse. Usually fish can live a few days in your septic tank. If he is going to die, let him to it in your tank where he wont be swallowing human waste.

If you really cant watch, put him in a glass of water and put him in the freezer. It will be less painful than the septic tank.
