A Salt bath: Get a small Gladware container and wash it out real good - take 1/2 teaspoon of salt and two cups of your aquarium water and mix it up in the container until the salt disolves. Net your sickly fish and set him and the net into your container. Keep a close eye on him, if he starts flipping around too much in the water, remove him immediatly. Keep him in the bath for 60 - 75 seconds, then return him to the tank. You can do this 3 times a day.
The salt bath kills a lot of bacteria and parasites and promotes the fish's immune system (slime coat). Of course if fish TB is what you had, it wouldn't have helped.
If you have a brand new tank and are just starting to cycle, you have to change the water to keep the ammonia level down. The only time you shouldn't is if you are cycling without any fish in your tank.
