I have had this dwarf gourami for about three weeks now, and although he looks fine, he has very long white stringy poops. He is also not very active the last week, but otherwise looks fine. I hate to treat my tank (I have no hospital tank) if it is not neccessary but I think it may be. The other tank mates look fine and are three platies, a sparkling gourami and three pygmy cories in a ten gallon tank. What should I treat with that will not screw up my cycled tank???? It is obviously an internal bacterial infection, anyone had luck with any certain medication?? Is is possible for it to be passed to my other fish, or do they normally stay host specific???

Try soaking his food in garlic juice. Or maybe feeding him a piece of chopped garlic. You can also try feeding him a piece of a peeled pea.
