Hey!

In November I bought four new fire eels. Unfortunately only one is still alive. What they all had in common is lumps growing under their stomach. It seems to grow bigger and make the eel sick very fast.

Two weeks ago I had to kill one of them because it was too sick. Would not feed or even swim. I could pick it up without it trying to swim away.

Today I noticed another fire eel had the same kind of purple/dark blue lump on its stomach.

I have have a 600 litre (158 gallon) tank.
I change 50-60% of the water ones a week, and always add Seachem Stability.
I always check to make sure that the water parameters are good.
I keep the water temperature around 26°. I feed them shrimp, frozen Brine shrimp, blood worms and frozen trout fillet. I also have my air pump running at least 8 hours a day.

Since these fish are very shy it's difficult to get a good picture, so I will try to post a better picture soon
Since I started to keep fire eels a year ago, 6 have died and I’m very close to giving up.

Does anybody have any ideas?

Sorry for your losses!

Can you post your water test results for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate as well as pH please?

Any other fish in the tank?
