right now i have a couple who have cloudy eye, and ick..only three out of my eight, i am using pimafix and melafix to treat. is this a good action, or should i be using coppersafe?

any help on curing my buddies would help, THANX!!! :shark:

some information about your tank and fish would help us help you. would you call up your doctor and say "hey doc, i have some pimples and my eye hurts, what should i do"? don't you suppose he might like to know abit more about you before recommending a treatment plan?

what size is the tank.
what kind of fish are we talking about.
what are your ammonia, nitrite and nitrate readings.
what's the ph of your water.
how often do you do water changes.
what's the temperature of the water.

and etc., etc., etc.

cloudy eyes in fish can have many causes including velvet, Ich, fish tuberculosis, corneal edema, cataracts, nutritional deficiency, bacterial infections, fungus, or on rare occasions digenetic flukes such as Diplostomum. trauma and hereditary factors can also be causative. in the vast majority of cases however, water quality is the issue. as for ich, it's always a water quality issue. treating the fish without fixing the cause of the disease will simply not work. oh, the spots may be gone ... but they'll be back with a vengeance and your fish will ultimately head on up to that big fish tank in the sky.

i have a 55 gal
ph is 6.8
ammonia/nitrite- oppm
nitrate 10
temp is 78
water changes- bi weekly
i have just conquered my water battle, after buying fish from petsmart that where sick, and died- maybe this is where i have gotten these parasites from??
the fish that are affected are my two botia loaches, my coreycats, my giant danio, and my silver dollar.
thats all that i can see for now. but i know that i have had this problem in my 2000 gal pond, and i used these medications in there and it worked, but you know what your talkin bout from all i have read from you, so what advice could you give to save my scaley friends, any other info..just let me know.

thanx a whole bunch for your concern and help!!!

your water quality seems ok on the surface, but i'd increase the frequency to 50 percent weekly rather than every other week and include a gravel vacuuming each time. this will help to rid your tank water of those stages of bacteria and/or parasites which are free floating or have settled in the substrate.

if the medication you've used for your pond worked, then i'd use it in your tank as well.

ok...thank you i will do that

i hope it does work
cause i hate to lose any more of my tank buddies!!

is there any other actions i could take??
thank you again for all your help, i greatly appreciate it!! :shark:
