I once had a pair of Moonlight Gouramis. A very reagal fish, with the tank in my family room, and TV became mindless, I would turn away and just watch the pair interact. You couldn't find better stress relief. I might do that again. I think the plattys, Barbs, and Angel can all get along. I'm trying to improve my fish keeping skills (and wallet) so I can get some Discus. But I need a bigger tank. Right now I'm running a 65g and a 10g isolation tank in the basement (it ain't pretty, but it does the job).

Can't comment on your wallet, but being able to keep a kissing gourami alive for 10 years you must be ready for Discus
