Hi everyone, and thank you all for your advice.
Here are our water paramiters which were taken about an hour ago:
Nitrite - 0
PH - 7.6
High Range PH - 7.8
Nitrate 8
Ammonia .15
We use the Freshwater Master Kit by Aquarium Pharmaceuticals, Inc. to test water.
Before they got sick, we had a very healthy environment. About 50% water changes and gravel cleaning once every two weeks. Temperature 80 degrees. Feeding every other day.
Since they got sick we have been doing 50% water changes every day. We are using the recommended dose of Quick Cure. The first four days of sickness we raised the temp to 84 degress (gradually). The sevs were gasping alot, so we gradually lowered the temp back down to 80 degrees for a day and noticed they were still gasping. Now the temp is at 82 degrees. After tonights water change, we are putting in a divider to keep everyone else away from the sevs.
Lupin - you mentioned to feed our fish veggies. What kind do you suggest? Should we be using medicine for finrot now along with Quick Cure?
As of now, they are still in the same condition.
Other tank mates are:
4 tiger barbs
4 corry cats
2 kuhli loaches
2 dojo loaches
1 placo
1 electric blue cichlid
2 silver dollars (one is a year old - the other is a baby)
1 scat
1 red dwarf gourami
2 green severums
1 turquois severum (baby)
2 snails
1 newt
1 bleeding heart tetra (as I'm typing this he is dying)
Last night the bleeding heart tetra started showing the same signs as the sevs. Right now he is dying, he has red spots in his eyes and they are cloudy, white film on his body and torn fins. He's about a year old also. On closer inspection of the other tank mates, one of our corry cats eyes also looks cloudy. This is alarming. Any ideas?
We have never had any kind of problems like this. So all the disease and illnesses are new to us. We don't want to lose anymore fish.
Thank all of you again for all your help. It is greatly appreciated.
