I brought home a mystery snail from the store a couple of days ago and he has this cloudy white material all around his mouth. I have been unable to find any information on what it could be. Any help on what it is and how to treat it would be appreciated!

Is this a new development? Has he been moving around and eating normally? Surfacing for air? More info on the setup would be helpful.

For the first day he floated at the top and hung half way out of his shell, but since then he has recently been moving around the walls and resurfacing for air. I haven't seen him eating.

Sounds like he might have been damaged during packing. They can produce a thick coat of slime to protect wounds, and this will sometimes be thick enough to be noticable. As long as he's moving around, I would just monitor him for activity, make sure food is available, and keep water conditions up. Medicating inverts is not a good idea--most are sensitive to them, causing more problems than what you're trying to treat.
