Well this is my first post here and I hope you can help.
I have a pleco that is about 3-4 years old and he has developed some sort of growth or tumor on his mouth. His is about 8" long. Has lived in a tank with 2 8" oscars and a chiclid for 3 years. The other fish are showing no signs of illness. Water quality is not an issue. The pleco has been placed in a quarantine tank. I was advised to give the pleco Metronidazole. There was a slight improvement after 2 days then it just continued to get worse.
Any help would be great.

The closest thing I could find on this was a bacterial infection. I know there is something called Cotton Fungus which some fish could get in there mouth which my pleco from way way back had got but his was white not red. The place I read about it suggest using a broad antibacterial medication. But I am by no means possitive that this is a bacterial infection.

Sorry I can't be of more help. What size tank do you got this your 2 Oscars and the other cichlid in? How often do you do Water Changes and what are your water parameters (Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrates)?
