Sick SEVERUM

Good point, and the salt isn't a necessity, it can help sometimes, but maybe it's best not to chance it in this case. Incidentally, I've read with iodized (table) salt, the reason not to use it is that it contains anti-caking agents to keep it free running, and those are what can have a detrimental effect. I've also read about people who use it with no problems.

Flashing, TMK, is something that happens because ich infects the gills before anything else; the fish are trying to rid their gills of parasites. The one lying on the bottom may just feel terrible. Fish heavily infested with ich are very sick indeed, and this seems to me like it could just be a reaction to being infected for a while, but as LongTime mentioned it could be that he's coming down with something else after having been weakened by ich. He's still eating, so don't lose hope.

ScottoMacD makes a good suggestion about the Formalin. I hope it works. Keep us posted.

Yes, you are correct, but those are the choices you have made.

The true beauty of a forum is the exchange of ideas. Even where there are benefits that are readily apparent to many people, such as regular water changes, there are those who disagree and boast about the size, age and health of their fish and how great their water test results are. I choose to do the water changes and not use chemicals.

At the time I used copper and the times I have used salt, I found the consequence worth it. That was the choice I made then and I was happy with those choices at that time.

As far as becoming immune to copper, that did not happen because the parasite, I don't even remember what I was treating, died and was not reintroduced. That was over 5 years ago. The only reason I remember is I just found the coppersafe in the back of a closet and pitched it. I do know it was something that rode in on some plants from a source that is now out of business!

Should I continue the h20 changes daily?
Or since I added the organicure wait the recomended 48 hours?

You are right.

I hope I didn't do something to really harm my fish though.
I have had these guys so long.

I have a friend who has a salt water tank and has a very unique fish keeping style - I wouldn't recomend her ways but her fish are big, bright healthy- and If I tried those things----
I would not have a single fish left.

I learned everthing from these forums and I thank god for you guys who keep answering these -repeated threads over and over-

Does that sound normal for a dragon fish?
Any one know?
I'm paranoid now:rolleyes:

I'm off to the fish store to try to set up a new home for the dragon fish.

Big Severum is getting up a little bit more.
He sure isn't himself yet.

I feel terrible.

Don't beat yourself up. In all the years I've been keeping fish, I have discovered more methods of killing fish than you have probably imagined! :( I also hope you never do come up with those methods! You do your best and learn from your mistakes.

Just an historical note on copper.
THIS IS NOT AN INDORCEMENT OR SUGGESTION!
Back in the days when Arthor was King and I got my first tank :) the Mom & Pop LFS by my house told me to "Keep a penny in your filter (corner filter with glass wool and charcoal) to stop disease and change 10% of your water every 4 days." And they were kind enough to let me trade in by baby guppies! :)

I think My severum is feeling alot better-
Not out of the woods but ~I bought some krill- and he was up and first in line!

However- It may be the early stages of ich making him sick not the salt.

But My pleco wouldn't like all the salt I added.
Reason also for the h20 changes.

THey have a new organic - cure for ich.
Ich*Attack (by aqua herbals) for FW and Salt.

I am going to set up the new tank.

That is good knews!

:) WARNING:) The sevrum in my avitar is doing the best he can to convince me all he will eat is krill and fresh spinach!

My fish will eat Romain lettuce all day long.

I bought the good krill - Frozen

Because I felt guilty.Typical mom.
He was happy- And isn't laying on bottom anymore.
Swimming Kinda slow fins still a bit clamped.
