I'm sorry about your loss. I don't think it was parasites. I think Melody is right on in that the tank wasn't cycled and there were issues with water quality. How are the rest of the inhabitants? I'd do much more than 10% water changes and be sure to get the liquid test kit. And don't be sad about the upgrade, the fish will be happier in the long run once the new tank is cycled. I'd also use Prime to help lame the nitrite and ammonia less toxic until you get the tank cycled.

Edit: I have to agree with Melody in that the fish you have are going to get much too big to be all together in a 110 gallon. Eventually this will lead to more illnesses and poor water quality.

Mud cats don't get that big but I know the channel cat will, I plan on upgrading as I expand and some day growing into the 700 gallon range. My ultimate (far off) goal is to house only catfish. The pleco, barb, and mud cat were orphans so I had to take them in. Thanks for your help, I will definitely take you up on the advise to keep my tank mates to a minimum, I know first hand how much waste these guys produce!

I agree with both of you that the tank will be outgrown. I originally started with a 10 gallon off craigslist and will continue to upgrade as my buddy's need grow. This is welcomed critical input and I appreciate it. I'm just writing back to let you guys know I plan on growing and growing and growing and... Eventually we'll all move to my lake lol!

To be honest I don't think it was parasites either, I have a gut feeling it was the food change mixed with the water quality.. this is my first large tank change and I feel like a jerk that I had a casualty... my favorite one at that! Hopefully Pacu will make it and I'll have learned a valuable lesson. The rest of my guys are doing great, total I have 3 aquariums and everyone other than the Pacu (and the late starry night) are well.

This is not an issue of water quality, I have lost all of my feeder fish and one angel fish is sick. This is a separate tank.

I thought it was water quality so I transferred the Starry Night last week. I have fish dying in both tanks, the smaller one is well established and there is zero chance it is water quality. I need to figure out QUICK if it is parasite, bacteria, or fungus so I can treat it ASAP. I'm going to treat for bacteria and hope for the best.
