After reading this post in another thread, I was wondering if anyone of you guys had side businesses setting up tanks and or maintaining them as a business on the side? Since the hobby is becoming so much fun for me, I was thinking why not try and make a lil money on it. I not trying to get rich on this, just maybe support my own fish habit...

Any ideas on startup costs, advertising, etc????

Be very careful about making your hobby your business- it can spoil the joy fairly quickly.

AMEN! I want to go back to high school and slap the guidance counsellor that said "Find something you love doing and get paid to do it." I should have known not to take that advice from them... I mean, do you think THEY enjoyed giving stupid advice before they became guidance counsellors?

My hobby used to be computers. I LOVED messing with computers. Then I got a job doing it. About 5 months later, I hated messing with computers. Once I got home at night, I didn't want to do anything except maybe play some games and go to bed. I didn't want to touch them outside of work. Whatever you do, DO NOT let your hobbies move into the job realm, or whenever you should be doing it for fun.... it's just gonna feel like work. Worse, it's gonna feel like unpaid work.
