Silent air pumps

Rena air pumps suck. ....
Wow..
Funny how I'll never buy 'TetraTech' - those 2 I had were loud and had a weak flow compared to Rena's line, and specs to go along with it.

On another note, Rena's line of aquarium equipment have proven to be good products - not junk - but quality.... And, very silent. ;)

And yet, another angle..
All pumps emit some sound.
If your aquarium stand is not closed, like the cabinet type, then any pumps or filters you have will be audible..

Fact. .....

True all air oumps make noise. Mine were in to seperate cabinets and the 400 Rena's were more noisey than the DW96-2's. As for air flow, the DW96-2 deffently put out more pressue and flow through my sponges. But there is one that out does these, Luft. Trying one now. These are noisey compared to the others but move alot of water. As for as quaility of the Luft, only time will tell.

Tetratec Deep Water

I have to second the Tetratec DW-96 as the quietest. I just set up a new hex and first brought home a rena 400. It was so LOUD! Then I tried a Tetratec regular (I forget the model), then a Hagen (loudest yet). THen I tried the Whisper 60 (?) it was the quietest of the above. But the last one, the one I'm keeping is the Tetratec DW-96...it is so much quieter than the rest. Doesn't even compare. They noises bothered me less than my husband who is really sensitive and hates white noise. (He's Swiss and needs his peace and quiet) ;)

It's really hard to gauge the noise until you bring it home and put it in the cabinet too. Luckily the stores let me try it and bring it back the next day if it didn't work. I'm confused as to why Rena has such a good noise reputation?? It was louder than the DW and the Whisper? Maybe I got an odd one though.
