could i use silicone to glue pondliner to the inside of a plywood and glass homebuilt aquarium?

seems like it would be so much easier than learning how to fiberglass.

The pond liner places sell wide tape that might work better.

I didn't use that when I lined my metal stock tank with liner and the edge where I spliced curled up a bit. Since I wasn't going to leak if this failed, I didn't much care.

In your case, with the price of failure pretty high, I'd go for double protection, the liner adhesive and the liner tape.

Just Liners

It wont work. Theres no way to silicone the glass to the pond liner.

You should use marine grade epoxy. Its much simpler than fiberglassing and will work just as well.

i had no doubts about silicone-ing the glass to the epoxy'd wood, my main concern was a scratch in the epoxy elsewhere in the tank exposing the raw wood.

thanks for the info.

Its almost impossible to scratch through the epoxy. Have you ever been able to scratch through the epoxy on a pool?
