Silicone II update (bad news)

I just used Red Devil, Black Multi Pupose formula 100% Silicon for my winter holding tank for my Goldfish. I let it dry 4 days and wiped off the area with a wet rag a few times after it cured and had no problems. No carbon or heat just a sponge filter and some powerheads..

I used DAP brand black silicone window & door for my cork on slate project, haven't ever noticed problems from it. I had to have my True Value hardware order it for me. No mildewcides

I've always heard that one suggested as safe. I did notice though that the DAP window/door at Lowes now has a mold/mildew protection label on it. Not sure if it is as bad as the GE stuff is said to be, but something for people to look out for now.

I have used GE II on at least three tanks with no issues. That said I did let the silicone cure for a week dry each time and then water tested for 2 weeks to make sure they would hold up. I think it just needs a longer cure time before adding stock.
