Do silk aquarium plants hold up as well as plastic plants? Any special cleaning requirements for silk plants?

Thanks

I like silk plants better than plastic. My silk plants are old and only have slightly faded in coulour. My plastics are just as old and disintegrating. I never actually clean my plants so I dont know about cleaning.

IME:

It really depends on if/how often/how you clean your plants. If you odn't clean them, there's no difference. If you clean your plants with bleach, silk won't last as long as plastic.

Yes, bleach.

Thank you!!! I'll be converting to silk plants. Bought one the other day for one tank and liked the look of it. Very natural and life-like.

Thanks!!

Use a tooth brush and scrub it if it gets covered in algae, then replace in tank. They are also better for the fish, IMO, as fish with long fins won't get all ripped up on the silk plants. Bettas need either silk or real.
