So I have this liquid test kit (not sure of the brand) and it has the little test tubes and the little bottles of whatever those are and the little color charts. When you test your water, do you hold the tubes right against the card or an inch or so away from the card...the directions say hold it up to it (???). On the ammonia test and the nitrate test, it makes a BIG difference in the color when you hold it against the card or away from it a little.
Thanks!!!!

I hold mine up to it under a good light.
thanks for the quick reply!
Okay, I hate to be such a dim bulb:perv:...but do you literally hold it up to the card (like pressed against it) or just somewhere close to it?
Thanks!!

Psst you are just like me...obsessing to the point of worrying too much. As long as you have it close enough to compare it you're fine. If you need something more assuring..press that sucker up against the card :grinyes:

thank you! :)
I feel better now. My brain tells me if it was that important it would be somewhere in the directions. Duh. But little things like that drive me nuts, I have to admit.:wall:
Thanks again!

I feel your pain Robbie. I'm obviously obsessed with this hobby and I fret over the smallest things too. We just want to do it right and be responsible but I've tried to take the advice of some to remember this is supposed to be enjoyable and to relax enough to enjoy it.

one of the worst things that can be done is being uptight and overly stressed about things like this..Take it easy, relax, enjoy the hobby...we can spend sooooooo much time worrying that we are not doing everything spot and that is when most times mistakes get made...a more relaxed approach gives more enjoyment and when you not stressing it makes things seem sooo much easier....

Good point....thank you.
One could also apply it to more than a fish aquarium, too!
