Silver Dollars with black spots/dots - Is it dangerous?

I got two silver dollars today. Never had these fish before. When I put them in the tank I noticed that one has black dots all over its body and fins. Is this something I need to worry about? Is that a parasite? What do I need to do? Please help.

I'm new at this too. So, take my advice what it's worth. I don't think that faint black spots are any concern. Seems like I read that males have these spots or young fish have these spots. Anyway, I have silver dollars and they have faint spots. The spots are more or less visible depending on how light reflects off their bodies.

I just noticed that you mentioned fins. None of my fish have spots, faint or otherwise, on the fins. If your fish have dark black dots, particularly if they are raised, you might have something to be concerned about. If you could post a photo, I'm sure others here could help you.

Yes, they are small raised dots like ground black pepper.

The spots they are referring to in that description are not raised they are just part of the fish coloring.
If you scroll down on this page you can see some info. on the spotted variety.

I could be wrong but raised spots sound like something wrong like a parasite or something .
